Affordable Housing finance: The subprime crisis is an apt example of how misdirected financing can result into too much funding overfeeding less needy individuals. While masses all over the World are still starved of financing to buy their most-needed first homes, billions went into funding "investment properties", "home equity financing" and "holiday homes". The result is obvious. The only ones to blame are the governments who did not create feasible funding mechanisms similar to those of Fannie Mae to finance the World's needy. As a modest effort to attract attention to use of capital market funding methods for affordable housing, we are putting together a section on affordable housing finance. Click here.
